The Integration of Practice
At the beginning of the year, Helen Stephenson co-facilitated a weekend retreat in Copenhagen with Christin Illeborg of Nordic Dharma. It was a time to slow down, to listen, and to begin again with care.
The retreat explored The Integration of Practice — how meditation, mindful movement, and insight are not separate from daily life, but ways of meeting it more honestly and fully. Rather than striving or adding more, the emphasis was on noticing what is already present and allowing practice to settle naturally into everyday living.

Across the weekend, gentle yoga and guided meditation were woven together, each supporting the other. Participants reflected on how movement and stillness can work side by side, offering steadiness, ease, and a sense of balance that continues beyond formal practice.
The teaching was held lightly, with space for silence, rest, and reflection. All sessions were offered as invitations, allowing each person to engage in their own way and at their own pace.
Set in the quiet of winter just outside Copenhagen, the surroundings supported a sense of simplicity and calm. Over the course of the weekend, a shared atmosphere of attentiveness and kindness emerged, held by the rhythm of practice and the presence of community.
Helen was grateful to co-teach with Christin Illeborg, teacher of Insight Meditation Copenhagen and founder of Nordic Dharma. Their shared approach reflected a mutual respect for embodied practice, insight, and the ongoing integration of mindfulness into everyday life.
As the retreat came to an end, participants left not with conclusions, but with a felt sense of orientation — a way of standing more steadily within the flow of daily life, supported by practices that continue to unfold quietly over time.
